What about acceptance?

Does this mean I’m expected to just passively accept everything?

Absolutely not. With mindfulness practice, what we are accepting, and making space for, is only our present moment subjective experience – pleasant or unpleasant. We are not expected to passively accept elements of objective reality that need our response. In other words, if we are sick, we should treat the illness, if we are being victimized, it needs to be stopped, if our lifestyle is causing us harm, we need to look at that, etc.
